How it works

Click Start Recording. The first time, macOS asks for Screen Recording permission. That is what lets the app read the system audio stream. No video or screen content is ever captured.
Play anything: music, a call, a video, a game.
Click Stop & Save. The file is saved to your Desktop, named by date, and revealed in Finder.

Quality settings

Good: AAC 128 kbps, small files
Better: AAC 256 kbps (default)
Best: Apple Lossless, for an exact copy. Files are about 8 times larger.

Frequently asked

Does it record my microphone?
No. It only captures system audio output. The app does not use the microphone at all.

Why does it need Screen Recording permission?
On macOS the system audio stream is provided through the same API as screen recording. The app uses it only for audio. It never records video or screen content.

Where do my files go?
Straight to your Desktop as .m4a files. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.
